My daughter recently started having sex and asked about contraception. I’ve only ever used the pill. I want to help her figure out what’s best for her, but I only really know about the pill from personal experience. Where’s a good spot to go for real information?

It is wonderful that your daughter felt she could come to you for contraception advice. Planned Parenthood has a great online resource for you to brush up on the various forms of contraception, please see https://www.plannedparenthood.org/learn/birth-control. You can also read more about options and how to talk to your teen on our site here: https://parentsaretalking.com/reproductive-health/#contraception

For resources geared toward a teenager, check out https://youngwomenshealth.org/2014/02/27/contraception/. If you would like to be referred to a clinician to talk about your options, call CHOP’s appointment line at (215) 590-3537.
