REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH TOPICS

Welcome to Choose Your Own Adventure

Here you can practice your communication skills for talking with your teen about healthy behavior as they gain independence. At the same time, by completing this exercise you will help us build example conversations with tips for communicating. For each of the following scenarios, think about how some parents might immediately react to the situation as well as what you think would be the best way to respond.

1. Your teen comes home on a Saturday night and you smell alcohol on their breath. They insist that they are fine and tell you they are going to bed. You know that they were going to a friend’s house with other teenagers and although they were home before curfew you are worried. You don’t want to be angry but you want them to tell the truth. You decide to let them go to sleep but that you will address it in the morning. What will you say?
